Comparison of the drinking water standard for pesticides of the Brazil with other countries

Dinoraide Mota de Oliveira et al.

Summary: The study compared the types and concentrations of pesticides allowed in the water potability standard for human supply in Brazil with other countries. Data was collected from official government websites in Brazil, USA, China, Japan, France, Germany, Canada, Argentina, India, Italy, and WHO. There were differences in the number and values of pesticides allowed between countries. The study highlights the need for global standardization in water potability regulations to promote health and reduce exposure risks.

Trade impact of maximum residue limits in fresh fruits and vegetables

Mina Hejazi et al.

Summary: Interfering with maximum residue limits (MRLs) for pesticides can disrupt agricultural trade, with stricter importer MRLs reducing bilateral trade, particularly between the US and EU markets. The regulatory heterogeneity in MRLs among trading nations can have a significant impact on the trade of fruits and vegetables.

Summary: This study investigates the degradation mechanism of acephate using quantum chemical methods and finds that the dominant reaction mechanism involves hydrogen abstraction initiated by hydroxyl radicals. The subsequent reactions of dominant products with O-2 and NO in the atmosphere are also considered. The calculated rate constants in the atmosphere and aqueous phase are consistent with experimental values. The ecotoxicity of acephate and its degradation products is assessed in various organisms.

An efficient approach for separation of acephate from aqueous solution using a novel surface modified adsorbent and its electrochemical regeneration

Hafiz Muhammad Anwaar Asghar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption of acephate onto modified adsorbent and its electrochemical regeneration, finding that Langmuir isotherm model provided the best fit with the experimental data. The research demonstrated that the adsorption equilibrium was achieved within 60 minutes with an adsorption capacity of 4 mg g(-1) and 100% regeneration efficiency after five cycles. The results suggest that the modified adsorbent has great potential for efficient removal and regeneration of organo-phosphorus pesticides.

Biochemical and histopathological responses in peripubertal male rats exposed to agrochemicals isolated or in combination: A multivariate data analysis study

Maria Luiza Garcia Aranha et al.

Summary: This study investigated the hepatic damages caused by exposure to acephate, carbendazim, and mancozeb in juvenile rats. The exposure led to increased DNA damage and activation of the xenobiotic biotransformation system. Interestingly, the ternary mixture did not exacerbate adverse effects, suggesting a possible antagonistic chemical interaction among the three agrochemicals.

Farmers' attitudes vs. government supervision: which one has a more significant impact on farmers' pesticide use in China?

Changwei Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that pesticide misuse is common among Chinese farmers, with approximately 22% using pesticides in excess and 40% potentially using banned pesticides. Farmers' attitudes have a more significant impact on pesticide application behavior than government supervision. Farmers show a willingness to participate in co-governance of agricultural product quality and safety, but some are also willing to be bystanders in the face of illegal agricultural safety behaviors.
