The accumulation of element and heavy metal concentrations in different parts of some carrot and radish types

Mehmet Musa Ozcan et al.

Summary: Vegetables, a significant part of human diet, contain essential minerals for human health. High rates of heavy metals were found in vegetables due to their easy absorption by plant roots and leaves. This study investigated the element concentrations in different parts of carrot and radish varieties, and found that the head and shell parts had the highest concentrations of heavy metals in both carrots and radishes.

Macro-, micro-, and heavy metal element levels in different parts of celery (Apium graveolens L.) plant

Mehmet Musa Ozcan et al.

Summary: Potassium (K) was found to be the most abundant macroelement in celery plant, followed by P, Ca, Mg, and S in decreasing order. The lowest and highest concentrations of heavy metals were found in different parts of the celery plant. Generally, the leaves contained the highest amounts of heavy metals.

Determination of the Levels of Selected Essential Metals in Sycamore (Ficus sycomorus L) Fruit and Seed Using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry

Dessie Ashagrie Tafere et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the edible value of an underutilized species of Ficus sycomorus by analyzing its nutritive and mineral composition. The results showed that this species contains significant amounts of macro and micro essential elements, especially K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, and Cu. Therefore, it is a potential edible fruit resource with nutritional value.

LEVELS OF SELECTED METALS IN THE FRUITS OF A WILD EDIBLE PLANT (RUBUS STEUDNERI SCHWEINF) AND ITS UNDERLYING SOIL

Zelalem Pawlos et al.

Summary: This study examined the levels of macro and trace metals in Rubus steudneri Schweinf fruit and soil samples, finding that the fruit is a good source of essential metals but had excess levels of toxic metals Cd and Pb. The method used for analysis was validated with spiked samples showing a recovery rate within the expected range. Accumulation factor values for the tested metals ranged from 0.003 (Fe) to 7.07 (K).
