Explosive synchronization dependence on initial conditions: The minimal Kuramoto model

Atiyeh Bayani et al.

Summary: Transitions from incoherent to coherent dynamical states can be observed in various real-world networks, and they can be explosive or continuous. The nature of the transition changes depending on the initial conditions, and the critical coupling strength for explosive synchronization also depends on the initial conditions.

Tracking control of the nodes for the complex dynamical network with the auxiliary links dynamics

Peitao Gao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to describe a complex dynamical network (CDN) with both nodes subsystem (NS) and links subsystem (LS) coupled with each other. Two vector differential equations (VDEs) are used to describe the dynamics of NS and LS, where the dynamics of NS includes a second derivative term (SDT) for more realistic engineering applications. The results show that when the state of LS asymptotically tracks the synthesized auxiliary tracking goal (ATG), the state of NS asymptotically tracks the given reference signal. The network topology depends on the proposed ATG when NS achieves the tracking target, and all nodes are not isolated if all target signals determined by ATG are not zero. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is verified through a numerical simulation example.

Double Model Following Adaptive Control for a Complex Dynamical Network

Xiaoxiao Li et al.

Summary: This paper formulates and solves a new problem of double model following adaptive control (MFAC) for nodes and links in a complex dynamical network (CDN) by viewing CDN as an interconnected system composed of an interconnected node group (NG) and link group (LG). It proposes a new adaptive control scheme for NG using Lyapunov theory and mathematical preliminaries. Moreover, it synthesizes the coupling term in LG with the proposed adaptive control scheme for NG to solve the problem of double MFAC of nodes and links in CDN.

Neural sampling machine with stochastic synapse allows brain-like learning and inference

Sourav Dutta et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel hardware fabric that can implement a new class of stochastic neural network called Neural Sampling Machine (NSM). They demonstrate an experimental hybrid stochastic synapse composed of a ferroelectric field-effect transistor (FeFET) and a stochastic selector element. The stochastic NSM shows promising features such as weight normalization for online learning and Bayesian inferencing, accurate image classification, and uncertainty estimation.

Stochastic Control for Bayesian Neural Network Training

Ludwig Winkler et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to leverage the Bayesian uncertainty information encoded in parameter distributions to inform the learning procedure for Bayesian models. By deriving a Bayesian stochastic differential equation and applying stochastic optimal control, individually controlled learning rates are obtained for variational parameters. The resulting optimizer shows robustness to large learning rates and can adaptively and individually control the learning rates.

Stability for multi-linked stochastic delayed complex networks with stochastic hybrid impulses by Dupire Ito's formula

Ning Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the mean-square exponential stability of multi-linked stochastic delayed complex networks with stochastic hybrid impulses. By considering the impact of a certain past interval on the present, the multi-linked stochastic functional differential equations are studied. Sufficient criteria for the mean-square exponential stability are derived, which are closely related to the average stochastic impulsive gain, stochastic disturbance strength, and the topological structure of the network.

Blinking coupling enhances network synchronization

Fatemeh Parastesh et al.

Summary: This paper studies the synchronization of a network with linear diffusive coupling that blinks between the variables periodically. The stability of the synchronous solution is shown to depend only on the averaged coupling and not on the instantaneous coupling. The effect of the blinking period on network synchronization is examined using the Hindmarsh-Rose model. The results demonstrate that decreasing the blinking period reduces the required coupling strength for synchrony and leads to enhanced synchronization compared to single-variable coupling.

Synchronization of Stochastic Complex Dynamical Networks Subject to Consecutive Packet Dropouts

Zhipei Hu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new modeling and synchronization method for stochastic complex dynamical networks subject to consecutive packet dropouts, involving both probability characteristic and upper bound in controller design. Sufficient conditions are provided for global exponential synchronization in the mean square sense based on the proposed model. Numerical examples demonstrate the less conservatism of the proposed model method.
