Natural convection of water-based nanofluid in a chamber with a solid body of periodic volumetric heat generation

Marina S. Astanina et al.

Summary: In this study, a computational analysis of convective energy transport of water-based nanosuspension with variable thermal properties was conducted using the finite difference method. The results showed that the volumetric heat generation frequency and initial concentration of nanoparticles had the greatest influence on heat transfer performance, and by varying the characteristics of the heat source and nanosuspension, the energy source temperature could be reduced by up to 20%.

Double-diffusive magneto-natural convection of nanofluid in an enclosure equipped with a wavy porous cylinder in the local thermal non-equilibrium situation

Tahar Tayebi et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the numerical analysis of magneto-natural convection induced by double-diffusion of a nanofluid using the finite volume method. A wavy porous cylinder in a enclosure is considered, where the local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) is modeled by the Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer design. Controlling variables such as Rayleigh number (Ra), Lewis number (Le), Hartman number (Ha), buoyancy ratio parameter (N), Darcy number (Da), and medium's porosity (epsilon) are evaluated, showing that heat and mass transfers can be improved with certain augmentations and diminutions of these variables.

Investigation of passive method in thermal management of lithium-ion batteries at different discharge rates by changing the number of cavities containing phase change materials

Alireza Daneh-Dezfuli et al.

Summary: In this study, the thermal management of plate lithium-ion battery packs using phase change materials was investigated. It was found that increasing the number of PCM packages can reduce the maximum temperature of the battery and improve temperature uniformity. Additionally, increasing the charge and recharging rate of the battery results in higher temperature and more molten PCM.

Mixed convection in a channel with buoyancy force over backward and forward facing steps: The effects of inclination and geometry

Alibek Issakhov et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of buoyancy forces on 2D laminar flow heat transfer at different tilt angles, showing that the length of the bottom wall and tilt angle significantly affect the flow and temperature distribution. Furthermore, the buoyancy force alters the shape of the main recirculation region while the number of vortices remains unchanged but only their size changes.

Mixed convection heat transfer of a nanofluid in a closed elbow-shaped cavity (CESC)

Dariush Ebrahimi et al.

Summary: The primary objective of this study is to investigate the computational modeling of laminar mixed convection heat transfer of nanofluids inside a CESC, revealing that the use of nanofluids with higher volume fractions enhances heat transfer. Control parameters and fluid behaviors during the study process also play a significant role in affecting heat transfer efficiency.
