A novel high-efficiency solar thermochemical cycle for fuel production based on chemical-looping cycle oxygen removal

Jing Chen et al.

Summary: This study proposes a fuel production system that combines chemical-looping cycles with thermochemical cycles to reduce the energy consumption and improve the solar-to-fuel efficiency. By using the oxidation reaction in the chemical-looping cycle to absorb the oxygen produced by the thermochemical cycle, the system achieves a more efficient conversion of solar energy into chemical fuel.

A review on integrated thermochemical hydrogen production from water

Jung Eun Lee et al.

Summary: Hydrogen production from water splitting is considered an environmentally friendly process for replacing fossil fuels. Thermochemical cycles using chemical reagents have the advantage of scale up and can generate hydrogen more efficiently by reducing temperatures. Hybrid thermochemical water splitting combined with electricity or solar energy reduces the cost and improves energy efficiency.
