Investigating the simultaneous effect of effective parameters on the performance of salinity gradient solar ponds using Taguchi analysis: Determination of optimum thickness of the middle layer

Summary: The performance of solar ponds is affected by various factors including the layers of the pond and climate conditions. This study used the Taguchi method to analyze the effects of these factors on the temperature of the bottom layer in the pond. The results showed that the thickness of the pond layers and climate conditions had different effects on the operation of salinity gradient solar ponds. The optimal thickness of the middle layer was calculated to be 190 cm and equations were provided to estimate the temperature of the bottom layer in different climatic conditions.

Summary: In this study, the dimensional optimization of solar stills and the optimization of the connected thermoelectric cooling system were studied through numerical simulations. The importance of design variables on the quality of solar still performance was determined using the signal-to-noise ratio, and it was found that the cooling rate parameter had the highest impact. The simulation results also showed that the right sloping part of the geometry produced significantly more fresh water compared to the left part.

Synthesis of CuO thin films based on Taguchi design for solar absorber

Optimization of production in single basin solar still using Taguchi method - Experimental and theoretical approach

Investigation on solar water heater with different types of turbulators
