Summary: High-temperature pyrolysis of waste tires is a promising method for producing high-quality carbon black. The study examined the formation characteristics of carbon black during tire pyrolysis at different temperatures and residence times. It was found that the carbon black yield and graphitization degree increased with temperature and residence time. Molecular dynamics simulations revealed the evolution process from tire to initial carbon black. The findings can contribute to the production of high-quality carbon black through waste tire pyrolysis.

Summary: This study presents the thermodynamic and kinetic multi-reaction modeling of the pyrolysis vapors and gases upgrading process in Aspen Plus software. The models predict the theoretical and in-between scenario of a thermal upgrading process of an experimentally characterized vapors and gases stream. The influence of temperature and pressure operating parameters are analyzed in the outlet composition, residence time, and possible reaction mechanisms occurring. The kinetic model is validated against experimental data and shows good fit.

Summary: This study introduces an innovative simulation method for effectively utilizing paper-mill sludge in the production of energy-enriched renewable fuel through co-gasification. A co-gasification model based on Aspen Plus was developed to examine the synergetic effects of biomass and paper-mill sludge co-gasification. The model was validated against experimental data and showed good agreement. Sensitivity analysis revealed optimal conditions for maximum H2, CO, LHV, and CCE content in biomass gasification. The model also showed that co-gasification enhanced the H2 proportion and reduced CO content.

Summary: This paper analyzes the potential of combining the pyrolysis/gasification process with carbon capture and utilization (CCU) and investigates how to improve the process through process simulation. The results show that applying CCU can inhibit the production of H-2 and CO(2), but promote the production of CO. By adjusting the operating conditions and adding solid carbon, H-2 production can be protected and CO2 conversion can be improved.
