An effective method to determine bedding system insulation based on measured data

Nan Zhang et al.

Summary: The thermal environment plays a crucial role in sleep quality, and the microenvironment of the bed is more important than the ambient environment. This research aimed to establish an effective method to determine the insulation of bedding systems. A thermal manikin was used to measure the insulation, and various quilts were tested. A total of 64 bedding systems were tested to develop the evaluation method. The research provides a valuable tool for thermal comfort research and HVAC system design.

Xiaojing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that in naturally ventilated bedrooms during transition seasons with mild outdoor climate, a slightly warmer pre-sleep environment than neutral is beneficial for sleep quality, with a positive impact on the percentage of deep sleep. Additionally, indoor air quality is significantly correlated with sleep quality.

Questionnaire survey and field investigation on sleep thermal comfort and behavioral adjustments in bedrooms of Chinese residents

Zihan Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics of behavioral adjustments related to sleep thermal comfort in residential environments, analyzing how people adjust bedding systems in different indoor environments and exploring the effects of regional and personal factors on heating modes during sleep. The research finds weak correlation between thermal sensation during sleep and overnight bedroom air temperature, while bed temperature is not correlated with overnight bedroom air temperature.
