Molecular insights into recovery of shale gas by injecting CO2-rich industrial waste gas in kerogen slit nanopores

Yufan Zhang et al.

Summary: Injecting CO2-rich industrial waste gas into shale reservoirs as a replacement for shale gas can achieve green and low-carbon development. The adsorption behaviors and mechanisms of CO2-rich industrial waste gas components in kerogen slit nanopores were studied using Monte Carlo simulations. It was found that the adsorption capacity is influenced by pressure and the competitive adsorption of different gases. The results suggest that CO2-rich industrial waste gas has good potential for replacing shale gas.

Effects of gas components, reservoir property and pore structure of shale gas reservoir on the competitive adsorption behavior of CO2 and CH4

Weidong Xie et al.

Summary: This study simulated the competitive adsorption behavior of CO2 and CH4 at in-situ conditions in shale gas reservoirs and analyzed the effects of binary gas components, shale properties, and pore structure on the CO2 adsorption affinity. Mathematical and geological models for CO2 injection into the Longmaxi shale gas reservoir to enhance CH4 recovery and achieve carbon sequestration were established based on experimental and reservoir parameters, and the feasibility and expected benefits were discussed.

Molecular Investigation on the Displacement Characteristics of CH4 by CO2, N2 and Their Mixture in a Composite Shale Model

Liang Gong et al.

Summary: The study utilized molecular simulations to investigate the displacement characteristics of CH4 by different injection gases in shale reservoirs. Results showed that injection pressure and formation temperature influenced the displacement capacity of CH4 by CO2, while a synergistic effect was observed when CO2 and N-2 were simultaneously injected. This research provides guidance for the displacement exploitation of shale gas using injection gases.

Molecular insights into carbon dioxide enhanced multi-component shale gas recovery and its sequestration in realistic kerogen

Sen Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the competitive adsorption between CO2 and hydrocarbon components in shales, as well as the recovery mechanisms of CO2 huff-n-puff in kerogenic circular nanopores. The study reveals that different pore geometries and compositions significantly impact gas adsorption and recovery behaviors, highlighting the importance of using realistic shale kerogen models. Additionally, increasing pore size improves gas recovery during pressure drawdown but limits the effectiveness of CO2 injection, leading to an overall increase in gas recovery and CO2 sequestration efficiency.

A review of boiler waste heat recovery technologies in the medium-low temperature range

Yiyu Men et al.

Summary: The technology of waste heat recovery from medium-low temperature flue gas has been extensively reviewed, focusing on the principle and characteristics of various systems. More advanced waste heat recovery systems are proposed to enhance the difference between the cold source and the flue gas, with heat recovery efficiency exceeding 80% in some cases. Specific systems, such as heat pump systems and vapor pump boiler systems, are analyzed for their efficiency, economic benefits, and pollutant emissions.

Molecular insights into recovery of shale gas by CO2 injection in kerogen slit nanopores

Qian Sun et al.

Summary: The study shows that pressure positively affects the adsorption capacity of CH4 and CO2, with CO2 having a higher affinity for kerogen and better displacement ability. This suggests that CO2 can be an ideal candidate for CH4 recovery in shale reservoirs with natural or artificial fractures.

Yaqian Deng et al.

Summary: This study investigated the symbiosis effect of CuO-CeO2 catalyst and the influence of different ratios of CeO2 and CuO on its structure and catalytic performance. It was found that Cu1Ce2 catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic performance and resistance to SO2 and H2O. In the catalytic reaction, Cu+ played a crucial role in the catalyst and was related to the active site for NO molecule dissociation.
