Methanol steam reforming over highly efficient CuO-Al2O3 nanocatalysts synthesized by the solid- state mechanochemical method

Steam reforming of methanol over combustion synthesized CuZnOx-based catalysts for fuel cell applications

Summary: Steam reforming of methanol using CuZnOx catalysts was investigated, and the incorporation of Ga was found to improve catalyst performance by altering the environment and promoting the formation of ZnGa2O4 spinels and oxygen vacancies. The presence of Ga2O3 (15 wt%) was beneficial for activity and selectivity, and the formation of a CuZnGaAlOx system further enhanced the performance. The most active material showed promising results in an integrated internal reforming methanol fuel cell operating at 220 degrees C.

Techno economic comparison of combustor integrated steam reforming and sorption enhanced chemical looping steam reforming of methanol

Summary: In this study, a techno-economic comparison of CISR and SE-CLSR models was conducted using Aspen Plus V11 to assess the economic viability of hydrogen generation by MSR process. Simulations were performed to observe a strong dependence of methanol conversion, hydrogen yield, CO selectivity on different operating conditions. Sensitivity analysis was performed to obtain the optimum operating conditions. The estimated hydrogen production costs were 2.66 $/kg and 2.79 $/kg for CISR and SE-CLSR processes, respectively.
