Experimental study on low temperature heating performance of different vapor injection heat pump systems equipped with a flash tank and economizers for electric vehicle

Kang Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of vapor injection technology to enhance the heating performance of air conditioning heat pump systems in electric vehicles operating at extremely low temperatures. Experimental results showed that the flash tank vapor injection (FVI), economizer vapor injection (EVI) with both upstream injection (UI) and downstream injection (DI) configurations significantly improved the system's heating capacity and coefficient of performance. The optimal injection pressure range for the system was determined to be 0.16-0.37 MPa. The findings suggested that an economizer with a downstream path achieved better heating performance at relatively low temperatures, while a flash tank offered advantages at temperatures below -15 degrees C.

Assessment of Optimal Operating Range and Case Verification of a Waste Heat Air-Source Heat Pump Water Heater Based on a Semiempirical Parametric Model

Youxin Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, a semiempirical parametric model of a waste heat air-source heat pump water heater (WH-ASHPWH) system was established to simulate the heating performance under different working conditions and determine the optimum operating range. By calibrating the heat exchanger model and using the global model, the effects of different waste heat conditions on the heating performance of the system were studied. The simulation results showed that the coefficient of performance (COP) reached a maximum value of 4.5 under the optimum working conditions, with a deviation of less than 8.28% compared to experimental values and a simulation time of less than 8 minutes. These findings indicate that the model is reasonable and efficient.

Experimental Investigation of Gravity Effect on a Vapor Compression Heat Pump System

Zhanfeng Huang et al.

Summary: Vapor compression heat pumps have the potential to meet the future thermal management requirements in aerospace with high heat flux dissipation, precise temperature control, and compact structure. A variable-angle test stand was used to study the effect of gravity on the performance, temperature distribution, and oil circulation rate of a vapor compression heat pump system in a ground environment. The results showed stable operation at different inclination angles, with the best performance achieved at a 90-degree inclination angle and a maximum coefficient of performance (COP) of 5.5. The system flow rate varied sinusoidally with a 10.7% change relative to the initial flow rate as the inclination angle increased.

Jiayu Ye et al.

Summary: In order to ensure indoor air quality in severe cold regions, this study proposes an air source heat pump fresh air unit that mixes fresh air and return air. The mixing process is carried out in a mixing box, increasing the inlet air temperature of the condenser and ensuring energy-saving and stable operation. Experimental results show that the unit can operate continuously and stably with a fresh air volume of 700 m3/h and a supply air temperature of 24.0 degrees C. The heat pump COP reaches 4.29 at an outdoor temperature of 4.9 degrees C and 2.46 at -20.9 degrees C.

Qunli Zhang et al.

Summary: To solve heat loss and pollution in gas boilers, a synergistic system comprising of waste heat recovery tower and air humidification tower is proposed. Increasing air moisture content can inhibit nitrogen oxide generation and increase flue gas dew point, thus enabling the utilization of flue gas waste heat. The heat pump in the system can recover 6.94% of heat while minimizing nitrogen oxide emissions to 39.66 mg/m³, improving boiler heating efficiency.
