CO-PYROLYSIS of agricultural waste and estimation of the applicability of pyrolysis in the integrated technology of biorenewable hydrogen production

J. V. Karaeva et al.

Summary: The possibility of producing biorenewable hydrogen from agricultural waste, specifically cow manure and Amaranthus retroflexus L. weed stems, as well as their mixtures, was investigated. The thermal decomposition of the waste was found to occur in three stages, with the highest yield of volatile components in the temperature range of 145 to 410 degrees C. The pyrolysis of the mixture resulted in pyrolysis liquid, syngas, and biochar, with the highest hydrogen concentration observed in the gas from a 4:1 ratio of cow manure to weed stems. Increasing the proportion of weed stems in the mixture enriched the pyrolysis liquid with phenolic compounds, while the biochar had a high fixed carbon content suitable for use as soil additives. A bio-thermochemical processing scheme involving dark fermentation and pyrolysis was proposed for further research on increasing gaseous hydrogen yield from biomass.

A review on thermochemical biomass gasification techniques for bioenergy production

Dharmendra D. Sapariya et al.

Summary: Thermochemical gasification techniques are environmentally friendly and sustainable for converting solid fuel into gaseous fuel, used for power generation and process heating. This paper evaluates the critical parameters of gasification, tar generation, and cracking, comparing conventional mechanisms with advanced techniques. The focus is on cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and using low-cost biomass and waste for gasification as alternative energy sources.
