One-Pot electrochemical fabrication of high performance amperometric enzymatic biosensors using polypyrrole and polydopamine

Mingyu Lee et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel strategy was proposed to fabricate a high-performance biosensor platform by one-step electrochemical coating of PDA/PPy with enzymes (GOx and LOx). The PDA/PPy/GOx biosensor exhibited significantly improved sensitivity and stability compared to PPy/GOx, while the PDA/PPy/LOx biosensor showed enhanced lactate sensing ability. This facile fabrication strategy involving PDA/PPy and enzymes serves as an attractive platform for highly sensitive and stable biosensors.

Prussian Blue: A Nanozyme with Versatile Catalytic Properties

Joan Estelrich et al.

Summary: Nanozymes, nanomaterials possessing enzyme-like activities, are emerging as strong competitors and potential substitutes for natural enzymes due to their outstanding performance and wide range of applications, especially in biomedicine and environmental fields. Prussian blue nanoparticles and their analogues, metal-organic frameworks composed of iron cyanide coordination, exhibit excellent biocompatibility and biosafety, as well as catalytic activities attributed to the iron atom serving as metal sites for the catalysis, showcasing multicatalytic activities such as peroxidase-like, catalase-like, and superoxide dismutase-like activities.

An Innovative Sensor Construction Strategy via LbL Assembly for the Detection of H2O2 Based on the Sequential In Situ Growth of Prussian Blue Nanoparticles in CMC-PANI Composite Film

Sinan Uzuncar et al.

Summary: This study presents an H2O2 sensing system based on CMC, PANI, and PBNP, where a spontaneous and sequential in situ production strategy of PBNP on the matrix improved the electrochemical performance of the sensor electrode. By gradually forming PBNPs within the composite film by diffusion and electrochemical driving force, the sensor system constructed with sis-PB showed better analytical performances on H2O2 sensing compared to sp-PB. The LbL-assembling of the sis-PB-envisaged CMC:PANI matrix as a catalyst-polymer 3D-hybrid framework proved effective in developing PBNPs-based electrochemical sensors for H2O2 detection in tap water.
