Enhancing the stability and electrocatalytic activity of Ti-based PbO2 anodes by introduction of an arc-sprayed TiN interlayer

Changbin Tang et al.

Summary: The introduction of a TiN interlayer on the electrode significantly improves the stability and electrocatalytic performance of the Ti/TiN/PbO2 anode. It enhances the surface roughness and hardness, leading to faster deposition rate and finer grains in the PbO2 coating, resulting in a higher removal rate of phenol and overall improved performance.

Electronic waste and their leachates impact on human health and environment: Global ecological threat and management

Ankit et al.

Summary: Electronic waste is a significant part of solid waste management worldwide, containing hazardous components that have adverse effects on plants, microbes, and human beings. Heavy metals are a major toxic component of e-waste, requiring careful handling. Inadequate disposal/treatment technologies for e-waste have direct and indirect impacts on human health and the environment.

Leaching of Metals from e-Waste: From Its Thermodynamic Analysis and Design to Its Implementation and Optimization

Jose Angel Barragan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to design and develop an efficient leaching process for recovering copper, silver, and lead from e-waste by conducting fundamental and theoretical thermodynamic analysis and optimizing operation parameters via the response surface methodology (RSM). Thermodynamic predictions were made using Pourbaix diagrams, allowing for the determination of spontaneous leaching reaction conditions. The response surface methodology was then used to develop a semiempirical model for optimizing leaching efficiency by considering stirring speed and solid/liquid ratio.
