Pattern of relapse in patients with stage IB1 cervical cancer after radical hysterectomy as primary treatment. Minimally invasive surgery vs. open approach. Systematic review and meta-analysis

Nabil Manzour et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the relapse patterns of patients with stage IB1 cervical cancer undergoing radical hysterectomy with different surgical approaches, and found no significant differences in relapse patterns between the open surgery and minimally invasive surgery groups.

Rebecca L. Siegel et al.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

Protective operative techniques in radical hysterectomy in early cervical carcinoma and their influence on disease-free and overall survival: a systematic review and meta-analysis of risk groups

Johanna Kampers et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis comparing robotic and laparoscopic hysterectomy to open hysterectomy for early cervical cancer found that laparoscopic surgery generally had lower overall survival rates compared to open surgery. However, the use of protective operating techniques, such as avoiding uterine manipulators and using vaginal colpotomy, was associated with improved disease-free survival in laparoscopy.
