Aluminum impairs cognitive function by activating DDX3X-NLRP3-mediated pyroptosis signaling pathway

Wudi Hao et al.

Summary: Aluminum exposure can induce neuronal cell pyroptosis and neuroinflammation through the DDX3X-NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathway, which can be alleviated by Rsv through activating SIRT1.

Resveratrol, Metabolic Dysregulation, and Alzheimer's Disease: Considerations for Neurogenerative Disease

Alex J. T. Yang et al.

Summary: Alzheimer's disease is not only associated with protein plaques and amyloid-beta peptides, but also with metabolic dysregulation and diabetes. Resveratrol improves metabolic impairments and cognitive function, but may have adverse effects on synaptic function.

DDX3X Links NLRP11 to the Regulation of Type I Interferon Responses and NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation

Ioannis Kienes et al.

Summary: The study reveals that NLRP11 plays a role in regulating type I IFN induction during viral infection and controls NLRP3 inflammasome activation by binding to DDX3X. NLRP11 abolishes IKK epsilon-mediated phosphorylation of DDX3X, leading to reduced type I IFN induction upon viral infection. By interacting with DDX3X through the LRR domain, NLRP11 suppresses NLRP3-mediated inflammasome activation.

Aluminum environmental pollution: the silent killer

Reema H. Alasfar et al.

Summary: The concern about aluminum toxicity is associated with neurotoxicity in diseases like Alzheimer's, epilepsy, and autism, as well as the risk for premature infants and patients with renal failure. Further research is needed to explore the effects of overexposure to aluminum.

DDX3X coordinates host defense against influenza virus by activating the NLRP3 inflammasome and type I interferon response

Sannula Kesavardhana et al.

Summary: Viruses and hosts have coevolved for millions of years, resulting in complex host-pathogen interactions. The host protein DDX3X plays a critical role in coordinating multifaceted antiviral innate responses during IAV infection, essential for fighting against immune evasion strategies.
