A series of AIE dyes derived from shikimic acid: The thermo/pressure dependent fluorescence and application in the sensing of arginine

Ensheng Zhang et al.

Summary: Transformation of renewable bio-feedstock to fine chemicals and functional materials is highly desirable in chemistry and chemical engineering. This study reveals a series of AIE dyes with thermo/pressure dependent fluorescence. The compounds, obtained from renewable biomass molecule shikimic acid, exhibit AIE behavior and their fluorescent emission can be changed by modifying substituent groups. The thermos/pressure dependent fluorescence emission can be used as a quantified signal for temperature sensing and the AIE property can be moderated by substituents.

DRG2 Depletion Promotes Endothelial Cell Senescence and Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction

Anh-Nhung Le et al.

Summary: Deficiency of DRG2 induces senescence and dysfunction of endothelial cells, leading to impaired angiogenesis and reduced blood flow. DRG2 deficiency upregulates arginase 2 and reactive oxygen species generation in endothelial cells. These findings highlight the significant role of DRG2 in endothelial cell senescence.

Insulin regulates arginine-stimulated insulin secretion in humans

Florencia Halperin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the regulatory role of insulin in the beta cell response to arginine stimulation in healthy humans. The results demonstrate that pre-exposure to insulin enhances arginine-stimulated insulin secretion. This finding reveals the physiological role of insulin in regulating beta cell response to non-glucose secretagogues.
