Highly Efficient Sensitized Chiral Hybridized Local and Charge-Transfer Emitter Circularly Polarized Electroluminescence

Fan-Cheng Kong et al.

Summary: This work presents a novel hot exciton fluorescent material based on benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole and chiral binaphthol, which enables circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) through a chiral perturbation strategy. The molecule displays both CPL and hybridized local and charge transfer (HLCT) properties concurrently. Circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (CP-OLEDs) utilizing this material as the emitter achieve high external quantum efficiency (EQE) and moderate circularly polarized electroluminescence (CPEL) dissymmetry factor. Furthermore, sensitivity to a thermally activated delayed fluorescence material significantly improves the efficiency of HLCT fluorescent CP-OLEDs.

Y-Shaped Pyrene-Based Aggregation-Induced Emission Blue Emitters for High-Performance OLED Devices

Jin Zeng et al.

Summary: The proposed concept of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) has provided an efficient strategy for designing high-performance luminescent materials. In this study, three blue emitters with a pyrene core decorated with triphenylamine or tetraphenylethylene units were presented. The designed compounds exhibited AIE properties and blue emission in the solid state. Two of the compounds showed enhanced thermal stability, making them suitable as emitter layers for blue organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices. The devices demonstrated excellent electroluminescence emission, high exciton utilization efficiency, and low turn-on voltage.

Large effects of tiny structural changes on the AIE-TADF type xanthone derivatives in mechano-responsive luminescence and electroluminescence

Yu Fu et al.

Summary: In this study, two compounds with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) properties were synthesized and investigated. Both compounds exhibited the mechano-responsive luminescence (MRL) effect, with one of the compounds showing a significantly larger color difference in emission peak compared to the other. Crystal structure analysis revealed that small structural differences could result in variable conformations and packing patterns in different aggregated states. Furthermore, the impact of the structural differences on device performance in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) was explored. This work provides a complementary strategy for designing new multi-function materials.

Anthracene-based fluorescent emitters toward superior-efficiency nondoped TTA-OLEDs with deep blue emission and low efficiency roll-off

Longjiang Xing et al.

Summary: Three new anthracene-based emitters were developed for deep blue OLEDs, demonstrating highly twisted molecular configurations that lead to deep-blue light emission by restricting pi-conjugation extension. The molecular packing manner may influence photoluminescence quantum yields in solid state and the singlet exciton harvested by triplet-triplet annihilation process. A nondoped device using DPF-AnCN as emitter achieved an external quantum efficiency of 7.1% with insignificant efficiency roll-off, approaching standard blue index.
