A silane-based host material with improved electron transport properties for phosphorescent OLEDs with high efficiency and low efficiency roll-off

Jinho Park et al.

Summary: A dibenzosilole-based host material was designed and characterized to enhance the electron transport properties and rigidity by coupling two phenyl units. The efficiency roll-off in PhOLEDs was greatly improved by balancing the carriers and the driving voltage at high luminance was reduced. The red and green PhOLEDs exhibited high EQEs and a relieved efficiency roll-off. The planarization design strategy of the host proved to be effective for better device performance.

Highly Efficient Simple-Structure Sky-Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diode Using a Bicarbazole/Cyanopyridine Bipolar Host

Deli Li et al.

Summary: A highly efficient sky-blue PhOLED was successfully fabricated using a newly developed bipolar host material o-PyCNBCz, achieving a maximum external quantum efficiency of 29.4% at a practical luminance. Compared to its isomer, o-PyCNBCz outperforms in terms of charge transportation balance, photoluminescent quantum yields, and emitting dipole orientation, leading to its superior performance in PhOLEDs.

Highly efficient orange phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes with (4-(3,5-dimethylphenyl)-2-(m-tolyl)pyridine)-based iridium complex

Hyung Jin Cheon et al.

Summary: A new iridium complex based on (4-(3,5-dimethylphenyl)-2-(m-tolyl)pyridine) was synthesized for highly efficient orange phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs). The introduction of a methyl substituent into the 4-position of the phenyl ring in a phenylpyridine chelating ligand was found to significantly improve the performance of PhOLEDs. The newly-synthesized iridium complex exhibited maximum external quantum and current efficiencies of 20.33% and 61.16 cd/A, respectively, with these values maintained even at high luminance levels.

High Triplet Energy Hosts for Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Yaxiong Wang et al.

Summary: Improving the performance of blue OLEDs is a challenge in both scientific and industrial communities, with optimizing the fabrication process of devices, developing stable and efficient luminescence and transporting materials, and developing host materials with high triplet energy being key approaches. The bottleneck lies in improving operational lifetimes, decreasing efficiency roll-off, and maintaining high quantum efficiency, and more innovation is needed in this field.
