Synthesis of quinoline based molecular probes for detection of nitric oxide

Deepender Kaushik et al.

Summary: Four quinoline-derived compounds were synthesized and confirmed for their structures and purities using various spectroscopic methods. These compounds showed potential for detecting nitric oxide (NO) through UV-visible and fluorescence signals, forming corresponding triazoles. Among them, N4-(4-chlorobenzyl)quinoline-3,4-diamine exhibited superior sensing parameters.

Bio-orthogonal Toolbox for Monitoring Nitric Oxide in Targeted Organelles of Live Cells and Zebrafishes

Lin Zhou et al.

Summary: A versatile NO-sensing toolbox based on a bio-orthogonal concept using tetrazine and strained alkyne BCN as key components is proposed in this study to simplify the detection of NO in specific subcellular areas. The toolbox includes a general NO probe TMR-Tz-NO that can be coupled with various targeting groups for mitochondria, lysosomes, and membranes, enabling the imaging of NO in different cellular compartments.

Mitochondria-targeted smart AIEgens: Imaging and therapeutics

Haidong Li et al.

Summary: Mitochondria, as the main energy source of cells, play important roles in the regulation of physiology and diseases. Aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) have become a research hotspot due to their unique properties, and can be used to dynamically monitor mitochondrial behaviors and effectively kill tumors through regulating cell death pathways. This review provides systematic information on the working mechanism of aggregation-induced emission, design principles of mitochondria-targeted AIEgens, examples of AIEgens for imaging and detecting bio-species in mitochondria, and their biomedical applications.
