Real-world evidence of safety and effectiveness of Barrett's endoscopic therapy

Ritu R. Singh et al.

Summary: This study explores the safety and effectiveness of Barrett's endoscopic therapy (BET) in patients with neoplastic Barrett's esophagus. The results reveal that BET significantly reduces the three-year mortality rate in patients with high-grade dysplasia or esophageal adenocarcinoma, but it also leads to esophageal strictures in 6.5% of treated patients.

Long-term outcomes after endoscopic treatment for Barrett's neoplasia with radiofrequency ablation ± endoscopic resection: results from the national Dutch database in a 10-year period

Sanne van Munster et al.

Summary: The study investigated the short-term and long-term outcomes of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) +/- endoscopic resection (ER) for early neoplasia in Barrett's esophagus patients in the Netherlands. The results showed that in a centralized care setting, this treatment approach is effective with low recurrence rates, supporting the use of more lenient follow-up intervals and emphasizing careful endoscopic inspection.

6-month neurological and psychiatric outcomes in 236 379 survivors of COVID-19: a retrospective cohort study using electronic health records

Maxime Taquet et al.

Summary: Our study provides evidence of significant neurological and psychiatric morbidity in the 6 months following COVID-19 infection. The risks were highest in patients with severe COVID-19. This information could assist in service planning and research priority identification.

Bidirectional associations between COVID-19 and psychiatric disorder: retrospective cohort studies of 62 354 COVID-19 cases in the USA

Maxime Taquet et al.

Summary: This study found that survivors of COVID-19 appear to be at increased risk of psychiatric sequelae, and a psychiatric diagnosis might be an independent risk factor for COVID-19. These findings have implications for clinical services, and prospective cohort studies are warranted to further validate the results.
