Fibrinogen and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases-Review of the Literature and Clinical Studies

Stanislaw Surma et al.

Summary: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD) are a major cause of premature death worldwide. Biomarkers that can detect and assess the prognosis of ASCVD are highly sought after. Fibrinogen, a protein that increases in concentration in ASCVD patients, may serve as a biomarker for the disease and contribute to its development through genetic polymorphisms and post-translational modifications.

Using compositional analysis to explore the relationship between physical activity and cardiovascular health in children and adolescents with and without type 1 diabetes

Zoe A. Marshall et al.

Summary: This study found that arterial stiffness was mainly influenced by the overall movement composition, while autonomic function was most affected by sedentary time and sleep. Reallocating time from moderate-to-vigorous physical activity to other behaviors was predicted to have a negative impact on all cardiovascular measures, while reallocating time to MVPA was consistently predicted to improve all outcome measures. The intensity, rather than volume, of physical activity appeared to be key in reducing cardiovascular health risks, with MVPA potentially slowing the progression of cardiovascular aging in children with diabetes.

Daily physical activity is negatively associated with thyroid hormone levels, inflammation, and immune system markers among men and women in the NHANES dataset

Christopher L. Klasson et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between daily physical activity and both thyroid and immune activity using the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The results showed that greater physical activity was associated with lower inflammation levels and blood cell counts, as well as reduced thyroid activity.

Dose-response association of leisure time physical activity with mortality in adults with major chronic diseases

Jiahong Sun et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between leisure-time physical activity (PA) and mortality risk in adults with major chronic diseases. The results showed that individuals with a low to high level of leisure-time PA had a lower risk of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease (CVD)-specific mortality, and cancer-specific mortality compared to those with no leisure-time PA. Light-to-moderate-intensity leisure-time PA provided similar survival benefits as vigorous PA for all-cause and cancer-specific mortality.

Fibrinogen and hemoglobin predict near future cardiovascular events in asymptomatic individuals

Moritz Lasse et al.

Summary: This study conducted a proteomic analysis in the general population and identified 8 candidate proteins that may independently predict cardiovascular events occurring within three years. However, these proteins do not appear to predict events beyond three years.

Random intercept and linear mixed models including heteroscedasticity in a logarithmic scale: Correction terms and prediction in the original scale

Ricardo Ramirez-Aldana et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the importance of using correction terms in linear mixed models to obtain more accurate predictions, especially when considering log-normal distribution. Through simulations and real data analysis, it is proven the significance of correction terms in improving prediction accuracy.

What Is Moderate to Vigorous Exercise Intensity?

Brian R. MacIntosh et al.

Summary: The health benefits of physical activity depend on the frequency, intensity, duration, and type of exercise. Intensity is a crucial element and should be prescribed based on individual boundaries. Regular reassessment and adjustment are necessary to maintain physical activity in the moderate to vigorous intensity domains.
