Summary: This study explores the potential of Pinus heldreichii in dendroarchaeology and dating of historical timber, focusing on the application of Bosnian pine reference chronologies. The results show that Bosnian pine chronologies can be used to date timber from historical buildings and can also be used as reference chronologies for cross-dating with Black pines. Wood anatomy analysis is necessary for distinguishing the two species in historical wood.

The Suceava oak chronology: A new 804 years long tree-ring chronology bridging the gap between central and south Europe
