Transcatheter vs Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement Outcomes Among Solid Organ Transplant Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Vikash Jaiswal et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of trans-catheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) among patients with a history of solid organ transplantation. The study found that compared to SAVR, TAVR was associated with lower in-hospital mortality, 30-day mortality, acute kidney injury, bleeding, and shorter length of hospital stay among solid organ transplant patients.

The Impact of Charlson Comorbidity Index on De Novo Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device Procedural Outcomes in the United States

Mohamed O. Mohamed et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the usefulness of Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) as a measure of comorbidity burden to predict outcomes after cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation. The findings showed that higher comorbidity burden, as indicated by CCI score, was associated with increased risk of in-hospital mortality and acute ischemic stroke, but not procedure-related or device-related complications.
