Short-term Outcomes of Hypertensive Crises in Patients with Orthostatic Hypotension

Summary: Supine hypertension-orthostatic hypoten-sion disease poses a management challenge to clinicians. Data on short term outcomes of patients with OH and HTN crises is lacking. This study found that patients with OH were more likely to be readmitted with falls but not with HTN crises. Both groups had similar likelihood of developing certain complications, but the OH group had lower likelihood of developing acute heart failure or acute coronary syndrome. The OH group also had longer length of stay and higher hospitalization costs.
