The cooperation of a coordination bond and noncovalent interactions in the presence of Pd(II) mediates the activation of nitrile groups at specific reaction conditions, leading to the formation of various organic, supramolecular, and coordination compounds.
Noncovalent interactions and the coordination bond-assisted capture of Pd(0) in supramolecular cavities of bis-(2,4-bis-(trichloromethyl)-1,3,5-triazapenta-dienato)-Pd-(II) is reported. It was determined that the cooperation of a coordination bond and noncovalent interactions in the Pd-(II)-mediated activation of a nitrile group at 2,2,2-trichloroacetonitrile or 2,2-dihaloacetonitrile in the presence of NH4OH or propan-2-one oxime in acetone, DMF, DMSO, or MeOH leads to various organic, supramolecular, and coordination compounds.
