Microwave prepared nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon quantum dots for rapid determination of ascorbic acid through a turn off-on strategy

Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Hamid et al.

Summary: A simple and eco-friendly microwave method was used to prepare highly fluorescent nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon quantum dots (NS-CQDs) for the determination of ascorbic acid (ASC) in pharmaceutical dosage forms. The NS-CQDs were prepared within one minute using citric acid and L-cysteine. The fluorescence of NS-CQDs was quenched by ferric ions but could be restored by the addition of ASC due to its reducing properties.

Applications of layered double hydroxides in sample preparation: A review

Inas A. Abdallah et al.

Summary: Microextraction is a technique for selectively extracting substances from complex matrices using minimal amounts of extracting agents or solvents. This technique can be classified into liquid-phase and solid-phase microextraction methods depending on the nature of the system. Solid phase microextraction (SPME) utilizes microporous adsorbents as solid phase extraction (SPE) sorbents to selectively extract compounds via equilibrium-based extraction. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have gained interest as microextraction sorbents due to their high surface area, low operating pressure, and ease of fabrication and purification. LDHs have shown potential in various applications such as drug delivery, catalysis, environmental remediation, energy storage, and chemical analysis. In this review, the roles of LDHs in various microextraction methods including dSPME, IT-SPME, HS-SPME, SBSE, and TFME are discussed, along with their preparation, characterization, regeneration, and analytical performances/applications.

Green method for determination of four anti-viral drugs using micellar liquid chromatography: Application to dosage form analysis

Mokhtar Mabrouk et al.

Summary: A micellar liquid chromatographic method was developed for the separation and analysis of four anti-viral drugs. The method utilized a Thermo Hypersil ODS C18 HPLC column with an isocratic elution mode. By optimizing four factors simultaneously using Design Expert 8 software, a quadratic D-optimal model was created to achieve maximum resolution between peaks and minimize run time. The method was found to be linear and successfully applied to the analysis of the drugs in tablets.
