Evidence of drilling predation in oysters from the Lower Cretaceous of the Neuqu⠁en Basin (Argentina) and its implications for Mesozoic predation trends

Agustina G. Toscano et al.

Summary: The study reports oyster valves with circular holes from the Lower Cretaceous strata. The research focuses on determining the origin, frequency, and selectivity of these traces, which are identified as Oichnus isp. The traces were found on four species of oysters, and the producer remains unknown.

Names for trace fossils 2.0: theory and practice in ichnotaxonomy

Markus Bertling et al.

Summary: A uniform approach to ichnotaxonomy has been well received by the scientific community. This study presents a revised treatment of trace fossil groups and proposes the inclusion of cololites, regurgitalites, and root traces. It also introduces the concept of cecidotaxa for structures resulting from bioclaustration and provides a revised definition for the terms "fossil" and "ichnotaxon".
