Improved design of available atmospheric corrosion monitoring sensor with a higher sensitivity to low NaCl deposition

Qiong Wu et al.

Summary: The development of electrochemistry-based sensors is crucial for monitoring atmospheric corrosion. In this work, an improved design of a corrosion sensor with exposed Cu teeth height increases its sensitivity under thin electrolyte layers. The sensor shows high sensitivity to low NaCl deposition and is effective in the formation of electrolyte layers.

In-situ EIS study on the initial corrosion evolution behavior of SAC305 solder alloy covered with NaCl solution

Chuang Qiao et al.

Summary: This study reveals the initial corrosion evolution behavior of SAC305 solder joints, including four stages in the corrosion process. The acidified NaCl electrolyte can slightly dissolve the formed SnO2 and facilitate the formation of SnCl4 center dot 4H(2)O crystals.

Insight to corrosion mechanism of 90/10 copper-nickel alloys under different sea depths

Bing-Zhi Li et al.

Summary: The corrosion behavior of 90/10 copper-nickel alloys under different sea depths was systematically studied for the first time in this paper using static weight loss test, XPS depth analysis, and electrochemical method. It was found that the inner corrosion layer played a crucial role in protecting the alloy.

Comparative investigation on copper atmospheric corrosion by electrochemical impedance and electrical resistance sensors

Shan Wan et al.

Summary: Through field exposure tests and wetting-drying tests, ER sensors were found to be more suitable for atmospheric corrosion monitoring than EIS, as they could sensitively monitor thickness loss of Cu foil according to the Ohmic law, while EIS was more dependent on environmental humidity.

Temperature and NaCl deposition dependent corrosion of SAC305 solder alloy in simulated marine atmosphere

Chuang Qiao et al.

Summary: The research found that NaCl deposition and temperature have significant effects on the corrosion evolution of SAC305 solder joints, with high NaCl deposition prolonging the corrosion process, high temperature accelerating evaporation and leading to thinner film formation, affecting the formation of corrosion product layer.

High-temperature aging time-induced composition and thickness evolution in the native oxides film on Sn solder substrate

Chuang Qiao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of high-temperature aging on the composition and thickness of a native oxides film formed on a pure Sn solder substrate. Results showed that aging initially accelerated the oxidation process and improved the corrosion resistance of the film, but prolonged aging led to a deterioration in the film structure. Comparison between different methods for determining film thickness showed good agreement between results obtained from EIS and AR-XPS analyses.

Summary: This study presents a model to predict the electrolyte film thickness under dynamic environmental conditions, and also predicts the corrosion of AA7075-T6 under dynamic film thickness. The effects of factors like relative humidity, temperature, and salt load density on film thickness were studied, showing good agreement with experimental data.
