Optimizations and docking simulation study for metolachlor adsorption from water onto MIL-101(Cr) metal-organic framework

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption performance, multivariate interaction mechanism, and sensitivity analysis of the herbicide metolachlor by MIL-101(Cr) metal organic framework (MOF) using experimental, optimization models, and computational techniques. The results demonstrate the high adsorption capacity of the MOF for metolachlor, as well as the multilayer adsorption and chemisorption controlled adsorption process. The response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN) were used to design and predict the adsorption process with high accuracy. Docking simulation was employed to study the interaction between the MOF and the pollutant. The findings suggest the potential of the MOF for the effective remediation of metolachlor in aqueous medium.

Selective inhibition toward the enzyme-like activity of 3D porous cerium-doped graphene oxide nanoribbons for highly sensitive and enzyme-free colorimetric detection of pesticides

The detection method achieved a linear range of 10-1500 ng/mL for diafenthiuron and 2-800 ng/mL for carbaryl, with detection limits of 0.57 and 0.23 ng/mL, respectively. This work provides a new approach for developing highly sensitive and selective pesticide detection based on the direct inhibition of nanozyme activity through non-metal-sulfur bonding.

Metal-organic frameworks in separations: A review

MOFs have various applications in separations, including gas adsorption/separations, membranes, gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (LC), water harvesting, and the computer/machine learning design. The specific structural motifs of MOFs are required for each application, along with relevant properties such as polarity, temperature stability, solvent stability, pore size, pore volume, and surface area. MOFs used for gas adsorption/separations can differ from those used in membranes or as chromatographic stationary phases. MOFs have been used as general adsorbents, water harvesting materials, and also have potential analytical applications. The automated design of MOFs with desired properties using computational design and machine learning is a new focus.

CaFu MOF as an efficient adsorbent for simultaneous removal of imidacloprid pesticide and cadmium ions from wastewater

Summary: Research has shown that using metal organic frameworks for the adsorptive removal of imidacloprid pesticide and cadmium ions from contaminated water has been effective, with adsorption capacities of 467.23 and 781.2 mg g(-1) respectively. The adsorbed pollutants can be desorbed using dilute hydrochloric acid, allowing the material to be reused for multiple cycles without significant loss.

Functionalization of an iron-porphyrinic metal-organic framework with Bovine serum albumin for effective removal of organophosphate insecticides

Summary: A multifunctional hybrid BSA-metal organic framework material was prepared for efficient removal of pesticide residues from water samples. The hybrid material showed high efficiency and suitable recyclability in removing methyl parathion and diazinon. In addition, the material with multiple binding sites exhibited enhanced adsorption activity compared to the metal organic framework alone.
