Energy Efficient Control for Electric Ship Propulsion Considering Thrust Fluctuation in Regular Waves

Changyu Lee et al.

Summary: In this study, a control algorithm based on model predictive control for ship propulsion is proposed, aiming to improve energy efficiency and minimize energy consumption for propulsion. The system dynamics of an all-electric ship powered solely by batteries are modeled and considered, showing the feasibility of the proposed control approach by accounting for power and torque fluctuations.
