Interaction energy in the Poisson-Boltzmann plus hole approximation in asymmetric complex plasmas

Inna A. Martynova et al.

Summary: This article examines the modification of the Debye-Huckel plus hole approximation in asymmetric complex plasmas by considering the nonlinear screening effect. The interaction energy in the Poisson-Boltzmann plus hole approximation is calculated, taking into account the interaction of all particles. The results show a higher energy value than previous findings. The study also demonstrates a significant reduction in the effective macroion charge due to the nonlinear screening by bound microions.

On Shifting the Boundaries of Thermodynamic Instability of an Asymmetric Complex Plasma with Regard to the Nonlinear Screening Effect

I. A. Martynova et al.

Summary: In this paper, a two-component electroneutral equilibrium system consisting of finite-sized macroions and oppositely charged microions is studied. The complex plasma phase diagram reveals regions of negative compressibility and negative pressure for a wide range of macroion charges. A self-similar dependence of the macroion effective charge on the initial charge, system temperature, and macroion sizes is obtained. The possibility of reaching the thermodynamic instability boundary is estimated, and it is shown that this boundary may become unattainable according to one of the equations of state for the complex plasma characteristic parameters.

Self-similarity of nonlinear screening in asymmetric complex plasmas

Inna A. Martynova et al.

Summary: This study examines the nonlinear screening of highly charged macroions by microions in a classical asymmetrically charged complex plasma. It focuses on the relationship between the effective charge of the macroion and its initial charge, taking into account the effect of nonlinear screening. The self-similarity of this relationship has been demonstrated for various system temperatures, macroion concentrations, and macroion sizes.
