Halton iterative partitioning master frames

Blair Robertson et al.

Summary: Spatial sampling design is crucial in determining sample locations within a study area, with the spatial pattern of the sample needing to mirror the underlying spatial pattern of the population. Spreading sample locations evenly over a natural resource can increase sample efficiency, and various spatially balanced sampling designs have been proposed.

Spatially Balanced Sampling with Local Ranking

B. L. Robertson et al.

Summary: A spatial sampling design is proposed in this article to determine sample locations in order to estimate population parameters with good precision. The design incorporates ranking information from nearby locations into a spatially balanced sample. Numerical results show that the proposed local ranking strategy can improve the performance of a spatially balanced design. An example application for the health and productivity assessment of a Shiraz vineyard in South Australia is provided to demonstrate the simplicity and effectiveness of the local ranking approach.
