Bendable poly(vinylidene fluoride)/polydopamine/β-cyclodextrin composite electrospun membranes for highly efficient and bidirectional adsorption of cation and anion dyes from aqueous media

Xiang Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new class of composite electrospun membranes was designed and fabricated by triggering the self-polymerization of dopamine onto the surface of PVDF electrospun fibers to form PDA coating, and subsequently binding beta-CD molecules on the fibers surface via hydrogen bonding. The resulting PVDF/PDA/beta-CD fibers exhibited core-shell structure with efficient adsorption performance towards methylene blue and phenolphthalein. The membranes were also bendable and displayed excellent mechanical performances.

Energy impact of vacuum-based membrane dehumidification in building air-conditioning applications

Hye-Jin Cho et al.

Summary: Theoretical investigation on a vacuum membrane dehumidification system for building air conditioning applications showed that vacuum side pressure has the most significant impact on energy and dehumidification performances. Additionally, the length of the membrane module plays a critical role in the system's design. Further research on optimizing the membrane module design and the operation of the vacuum pump is necessary to achieve comparable energy performance.
