A novel method for extracting mutation points of acoustic emission signals based on cosine similarity

Weinan Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel method based on cosine similarity to detect change points in acoustic emission (AE) signals. The method performs better in extracting mutation points in an AE monitoring experiment. A combination of de-negative and linear normalization steps is applied in the preprocessing procedure to eliminate interference.

Dimethicone-assisted laser cutting of CFRP hole

Xinghua Chen et al.

Summary: This paper presents an assisted laser cutting technology for carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) plate using dimethicone, which effectively reduces the heat-affected zone and improves the cutting quality. Through orthogonal experiments, the optimal cutting parameters were determined, resulting in a significant reduction (85.89%) in the heat-affected zone width.

Machining of SiC ceramic matrix composites: A review

Qinglong An et al.

Summary: FRCMCs-SiC, as the preferred material for hot section components, safety-critical components, and braking components, faces challenges in machining due to high brittleness, anisotropy, and heterogeneity. With increasing demand for FRCMCs-SiC parts, high-quality and high-efficient machining has become a hot issue.

Drilling induced defects on carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic polyamide and their effect on mechanical properties

Dieter Meinhard et al.

Summary: In this study, a carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) laminate was drilled and evaluated. The dominant damage type was identified as burr formation, with no critical influence on the mechanical performance.

Investigating the fatigue and mechanical behaviour of 3D printed woven and nonwoven continuous carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites

Emmanuel J. Ekoi et al.

Summary: This paper evaluates the mechanical properties of woven continuous carbon fibre composites printed by additive manufacturing (AM) and compares them with nonwoven composites. The woven composites showed significantly higher strength and superior fatigue performance compared to the nonwoven composites, indicating their potential for high cyclic load applications.

Precision cutting of epoxy resin board (ERB) by ultraviolet (UV) nanosecond laser ablation with consideration of hazardous gas protection

Youmin Rong et al.

Summary: The mechanism and processing technology of UV nanosecond laser precision cutting of ERB were investigated, with a minimum seam width of 75 +/- 3 mu m achieved under specific laser cutting parameters without obvious burr and thermal deformation. However, precautions should be taken due to potentially toxic by-products produced during the cutting process.
