Chen Shi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of nonionic-anionic mixed surfactants on coal degradation and found that TR-LAS had the best performance, increasing the biodegradation rate by 23.6% compared to the control group. It was also observed that nonionic surfactant TR promoted the growth of N. mangyaensis, while anionic surfactant LAS increased the zeta potential of oxidized coal, facilitating the biodegradation. This study provides valuable information for designing mixed surfactants to improve the efficiency of coal biodegradation.

Summary: The single loss capability and skin effect of carbon-based materials hinder their electromagnetic wave absorption performance. Scientists have developed SiCnws/carbon foam composites with hierarchical structure using a chemical vapor deposition method. By controlling the growth temperature, the amount of SiCnws can be adjusted. The composites showed optimal reflection loss values of -55.8 dB at 10.30 GHz and a wide effective absorption bandwidth of 3.97 GHz at 3.71 mm. Additionally, in-situ growth of SiCnws substantially increased the compressive strength to 21.08 MPa.

Polarization Mechanism Underlying Strongly Enhanced Dielectric Permittivity in Polymer Composites with Conductive Fillers

Bo Li et al.

Summary: This study explores the dielectric response of a composite material consisting of ethylene-propylene-diene elastomer and carbon black nanofillers. It reveals that the dielectric relaxation is primarily determined by electron displacement within carbon black clusters, contradicting widely assumed interfacial polarization mechanisms. The dielectric response of the composites can be quantitatively correlated with the morphology of the carbon black clusters via a set of scaling laws.

Crystallization behaviors and related dielectric properties of semicrystalline matrix in polymer-ceramic nanocomposites

Xu Lu et al.

Summary: The crystallization behaviors and dielectric properties of semicrystalline matrix in polymer-ceramic nanocomposites were studied using P(VDF-TrFE) 70/30 mol.% as matrix and Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 nanoparticles as filler. The presence of ceramic nanofiller affected the formation of crystals in the matrix, resulting in two types of crystals and different dielectric properties. Increasing ceramic content led to a decrease in the proportion of beta' phase and an increase in beta phase in the nanocomposites.
