High Immobilization Efficiency of Basic Protein within Heparin-Immobilized Calcium Phosphate Nanoparticles

Maki Nakamura et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that heparin-immobilized CaP nanoparticles have a higher co-immobilizing capacity for basic proteins compared to acidic proteins. Heparin acts as both a particle-dispersing agent and a immobilizing agent for basic proteins, leading to improved immobilization efficiency within the nanoparticles.

In vivo study of iron oxide-calcium phosphate composite nanoparticles for delivery to atherosclerosis

Maki Nakamura et al.

Summary: By increasing the concentration of ferucarbotran in the supersaturated CaP solution, the content of IO nanocrystals in the heparin-modified IO-CaP composite nanoparticles was further increased in this study. These nanoparticles remained dispersed in water for up to 2 hours due to electrostatic repulsion and were more effectively taken up by macrophages, showing potential as a delivery agent for IO nanocrystals to arterial lesions.
