Cong Chang et al.

Summary: This paper presents an innovative and efficient process for the hydrometallurgical recovery of lead paste, which improves the leaching efficiency of lead by converting PbSO4 in the lead paste into acid-soluble Pb3(CO3)2(OH)2 or NaPb2(CO3)2OH in Na2CO3 solution. Under optimized conditions, a dense and flat lead plate with purity greater than 99.99% can be obtained, and the total lead recovery ratio in the whole process can reach 95.28%.

Investigation of novel leveler Rhodamine B on copper superconformal electrodeposition of microvias by theoretical and experimental studies

Yaqiang Li et al.

Summary: Achieving void-defect copper filling by electrodeposition on microvias is crucial, and Rhodamine B (RhB) has been found to effectively suppress defects. The optimal concentration of RhB for achieving bottom-up growth was determined as 100 mg/L using convection-dependent adsorption analysis. The interaction between sodium 3,3'-dithiodipropane sulfonate, polyethylene glycol, and RhB was investigated, and competition adsorption between RhB and SPS was observed. The introduction of RhB improved surface morphology, reduced surface roughness, and promoted the formation of Cu (111) surface, while also improving wettability for better bottom-up growth.

Recent developments of electrodeposition-redox replacement in metal recovery and functional materials: A review

Linfan Cui et al.

Summary: One way to address the increasing demand for metals and the depletion of high-grade raw materials is through innovative methods of metal recovery. Electrochemical recovery, specifically the combination of electrodeposition and redox replacement processes, has shown promise in efficiently recovering precious metals from underutilized secondary raw materials and hydrometallurgical solutions. This technology allows for the controllable preparation of metal coatings, nanoparticles, and functional surfaces, indicating its potential to alleviate material scarcity. In this review, we analyze the progress and future prospects of electrochemical recovery for metal recovery and the creation of high-value-added materials, including energy efficiency and sustainable materials.

Yaqiang Li et al.

Summary: Finding the right additive for copper superconformal electrodeposition is crucial. Brilliant Green has been found to effectively suppress copper electrodeposition according to electro-chemical analysis. The optimum concentration of 100 mg/L was determined based on the analysis of convection-dependent adsorption behavior. The interaction between different additives was also investigated, and the introduction of Brilliant Green improved the transport of cupric ions.

Optimization of electrodeposition nanocrytalline Ni-Fe alloy coatings for the replacement of Ni coatings

Yaqiang Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated nanocrystalline Ni-Fe alloy coatings with excellent brightness and corrosion resistance. The electrodeposition behavior of the coatings was investigated, revealing the co-deposition mechanism of Ni2+ and Fe2+. XRD and TEM analysis confirmed the formation of intermetallic compound Ni3Fe phase with small grain size. SEM and AFM images showed that the coating surface was nanocrystalline and compact, with lower roughness than pure Ni coating. The nanocrystalline Ni-Fe alloy coating exhibited good corrosion resistance.

Influence of suppressing additive malachite green on superconformal cobalt electrodeposition

Xiaochuan Ma et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel suppressor, malachite green, was used to achieve the bottom-up growth of cobalt. The interaction between malachite green and metal substrate, as well as the interaction between malachite green and cobalt ions, was analyzed to illustrate the inhibition mechanism of malachite green. Electrochemical analysis confirmed the inhibitory effect of malachite green. The results of current transient analysis showed that an effective malachite green concentration gradient could be formed within blind vias, leading to the bottom-up growth of cobalt.
