Presence of subclinical inflammation in axial spondyloarthritis patients with NSAID/anti-TNF-α drug-induced clinical remission

He-xiang Zong et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the rate of subclinical inflammation in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)/anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha drugs and to identify factors influencing clinical and imaging remission. The results showed that treatment with anti-TNF-alpha significantly increased the clinical and imaging remission rate. Higher CRP and ASDAScrp levels were identified as risk factors for non-remission, while anti-TNF-alpha treatment was found to be a protective factor. Continuous NSAID treatment for more than 1 year effectively improved clinical and MRI inflammation.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the relationships between C-reactive protein (CRP)/albumin ratio (CAR), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and Disease Activity in Psoriatic Arthritis (DAPSA) and Psoriatic Arthritis Impact of Disease 12-item-questionnaire (PsAID 12) scores in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). The results showed that CAR can be useful as a simple and quick assessment method to evaluate disease impact in PsA.

Systemic Immune Inflammation Index as a Reliable Disease Activity Marker in Psoriatic Arthritis

Ayse Bahar Kelesoglu Dincer et al.

Summary: The utility of systemic immune inflammation index (SII) in predicting disease activity in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients was assessed in this study. The NLR, PLR, MLR, and SII were significantly higher in PsA patients compared to healthy controls. There were significant positive correlations between disease activity scores and SII values. SII may be an easy, practical, economical, and readily accessible tool for monitoring disease activity and the efficacy of treatment in PsA patients.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical associations of hemogram-derived indices with disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The results showed that these indices were significantly associated with disease activity and could be used to characterize the activity and anticipate the prognosis of rheumatological disorders.

The novel indicators of moderate to severe sleep apnea: fibrinogen to albumin ratio vs. CRP to albumin ratio

Omer Hizli et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association of obstructive sleep apnea severity with markers of inflammation, specifically the fibrinogen to albumin ratio and C-reactive protein to albumin ratio. The results showed significant differences in these ratios among patients with different levels of sleep apnea severity, suggesting a potential predictive value for inflammation in patients with moderate-to-severe sleep apnea.

Summary: The study found that LMR levels were lower in axial SpA patients, and significant differences in LMR values were observed among different disease stages. LMR may be an important inflammatory marker to identify axial SpA and assess disease activity and X-ray staging of sacroiliitis.

Summary: The study showed that the C-reactive protein (CRP) to albumin (ALB) ratio (CAR) plays a role in the disease activity of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and is positively correlated with clinical activity indices. The ROC curve analysis suggested that CAR has a higher diagnostic value for the activity of axSpA.

Summary: The study found that the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) levels were higher in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) compared to healthy controls, with higher levels in the active group than the remission group. SII showed positive correlations with CRP, ESR, and BASDAI, and was identified as an independent risk factor affecting AS disease activity.
