Microvascular endothelial dysfunction in skin is associated with higher risk of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in women with type 2 diabetes: the Hoorn Diabetes Care System Cohort

Elisa Dal Canto et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between microvascular dysfunction in the skin and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) and HFpEF risk in adults with type 2 diabetes. The results showed that reduced skin microvascular responses to insulin and acetylcholine were associated with an increased risk of HFpEF in women. This study provides new insights for the prevention of HFpEF in patients with type 2 diabetes.
