Entirely Reversible Photochromic Glass with High Coloration and Luminescence Contrast for 3D Optical Storage

Heping Zhao et al.

Summary: A new entirely photostimulation-induced reversible photochromic glass, doped with lanthanide ions and silver chloride (RE-Ag glass), was explored in this study. It achieved reversible photochromism and luminescence modification from transparent to black under the alternating stimulation of specific wavelengths of light. The glass also showed good rewritability and re-erasability, making it suitable for double-model 3D optical storage.

Light-Reconfiguring Inhomogeneous Soft Helical Pitch with Fatigue Resistance and Reversibility

Mengqi Li et al.

Summary: This study introduces an additional degree-of-freedom in a photo-modulated soft helix, generating an unprecedented inhomogeneous helical pitch length with light-reconfiguring property. The use of a absorbance photo-modulator BTA-C5 enables the reconfiguration of helical pitch from homogeneous to inhomogeneous, providing a breakthrough for multi-freedom control in soft materials.

Helical secondary structures and supramolecular tilted chirality in N-terminal aryl amino acids with diversified optical activities

Zhuoer Wang et al.

Summary: This study explores the formation of helical supramolecular structures in solid-state through conjugation of N-terminal aryl protecting group, demonstrating the importance of asymmetric H-bonds in creating super-helical structures. The correlation between supramolecular tilted chirality of aryl segments and their chiroptical activities is unveiled for the first time, providing insights for the rational design and screening of chiroptical supramolecular materials.
