A novel electrocoagulation process with centrifugal electrodes for wastewater treatment: Electrochemical behavior of anode and kinetics of heavy metal removal

Yu Yu et al.

Summary: A centrifugal electrode reactor was designed and applied in the treatment of heavy metal wastewater, which significantly improved the removal efficiency of heavy metals. The analysis showed that the improved performance was due to the dissolution characteristic of centrifugal electrodes and the enhanced diffusion of chloride ions.

Impact of dissolved oxygen and pH on the removal of selenium from water by iron electrocoagulation

Yeunook Bae et al.

Summary: The removal of dissolved selenium from wastewater is a challenging issue for industries, and iron electrocoagulation has been found to effectively remove selenate and selenite. The rate and extent of dissolved selenium removal was highest at pH 8 and strictly anoxic conditions, with green rust and ferrous hydroxide playing important roles. Further research is needed to optimize iron electrocoagulation for selenium removal.

Anode passivation mitigation by homogenizing current density distribution in electrocoagulation

Jingqiu Sun et al.

Summary: This study finds that homogenization of current density distribution is a critical factor in alleviating anode passivation during the electrocoagulation (EC) water treatment process. Decreasing electrode area can decelerate the growth of passivation layer by homogenizing the distribution of current density. Thicker passivation layers are observed at the edges of the electrode due to high current density distributions, which can be mitigated by splitting the electrode into smaller electrodes without affecting the removal efficiency.

Electrocoagulation treatment of cork boiling wastewater

Joao R. Silva et al.

Summary: This study investigates electrocoagulation as an alternative treatment for Cork Boiling Wastewater (CBW). The results show that adjusting the current density, electric tension, and electrolyte concentration can achieve efficient removal of COD, TC, TN, and TSS. Higher current density and electrolyte concentration reduce electrode wear time but increase overall pollutant removal.
