Authentication and discrimination of tissue origin of bovine gelatin using combined supervised pattern recognition strategies

Elaheh Forooghi et al.

Summary: Accurate labeling of the origin of commercial gelatin raw materials is crucial for religious and food safety communities. This study demonstrates the use of Raman spectroscopy as a rapid and economical method to differentiate tissue origins of bovine gelatin. The proposed technique also has the ability to detect adulteration of bone origin gelatin with skin gelatin. With 100% sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, Raman spectroscopy, along with DD-SIMCA and PLS-DA methods, provides a reliable technique for detecting the tissue source of bovine gelatin.

Combining class-modelling and discriminant methods for improvement of products authentication

Zuzanna Malyjurek et al.

Summary: Class-modeling and discriminant modeling are two classification tools used for constructing predictive models. They have different areas of applicability, with class-modeling focusing on similarities within classes and discriminant modeling on differences between classes. Combining both approaches can lead to more effective classification outcomes.
