Core-shell CoCuOx@MOx (M_Nb, Ti and Ce) catalysts with outstanding durability and resistance to H2O for the catalytic combustion of o-dichlorobenzene

Shixing Wu et al.

Summary: Configuring Co-based catalysts with excellent activity, durability, anti-H2O capability and superior chlorine resistance is an effective strategy for catalytic combustion of CVOCs. In this work, a CoCuOx catalysts with different shell coatings (Nb2O5, TiO2, and CeO2) was elaborated. The prepared core-shell catalysts (CoCuOx@TiO2 and CoCuOx@ Nb2O5) exhibited enhanced catalytic activity due to the strong interaction between the core and shell layers. Additionally, the core-shell structure improved the thermal stability and anti-H2O capability of the catalysts, effectively controlling by-products generation.

Synchrotron X-ray diffraction of pyrolusite (MnO2) and rutile (TiO2) during heating to-1000 °C

Dong Youn Chung et al.

Summary: By studying the thermal expansion behaviors of pyrolusite and rutile, it was found that pyrolusite exhibited two reduction-induced phase decompositions, while rutile showed no phase decompositions. The Mn-O bonds in pyrolusite were shorter and stronger than the Ti-O bonds in rutile, resulting in smaller axial and volumetric thermal expansion coefficients for pyrolusite compared to rutile.

Photochemical impacts on the toxicity of PM2.5

Jialin Xu et al.

Summary: This review systematically examines the chemical and toxicological transformations of secondary organic aerosol, secondary inorganic aerosol, and metal species in PM2.5 under photochemical conditions. Major SOAs are found to be more toxic than their precursors, while major SIAs are less toxic. The toxicity changes of metal species depend on the specific metal and the photochemical reaction.

Enhanced catalytic elimination of typical VOCs over ZnCoOx catalyst derived from in situ pyrolysis of ZnCo bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks

Yunlong Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnCoOx catalysts were prepared using a metal ion doping strategy in order to eliminate volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Zn0.05CoOx with proper doping of Zn exhibited superior catalytic activity and durability. The presence of both BrOnsted and Lewis acid sites was beneficial for the degradation of cyclohexane, while only Lewis acid sites were responsible for the elimination of benzene and toluene. The chemical structure of the VOCs also played a role in their catalytic elimination.

Mechanism of CO selective catalytic reduction denitration on Fe-Mn/AC catalysts at medium and low temperatures under oxygen atmosphere

Bangfu Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the modification mechanism of Fe and Mn on activated carbon and the denitration mechanism by selective catalytic reduction of carbon monoxide (CO-SCR) on Fe-Mn/AC catalysts at medium and low temperatures. The results show that high Fe2+ content increases the main active sites of the CO + NO reaction, while high Mn3+ content inhibits the conversion of gamma-Fe2O3 to alpha-Fe2O3 and increases the denitration activity. Surface oxygen species with high reactivity and mobility are also formed during the denitration process. The presence of iron and manganese oxides enhances the reduction characteristics and absorption capacities of the catalyst. The denitration process involves reactant adsorption, dissociation, catalytic denitration, and product desorption and diffusion.
