New Isopropyl Chromone and Flavanone Glucoside Compounds from the Leaves of Syzygium cerasiforme (Blume) Merr. & LMPerry and Their Inhibition of Nitric Oxide Production

Bui Hai Ninh et al.

Summary: A new isopropyl chromone and a new flavanone glucoside, along with eleven known compounds, were isolated from the leaves of Syzygium cerasiforme. Their structures were determined using HR-ESI-MS, NMR, and CD spectral data. Compounds 1, 2, 5, 6, and 10 exhibited inhibitory effects on NO production in LPS-activated RAW264.7 cells, with IC50 values ranging from 6.69 to 12.28 μM.

Amenyunnaosides A-C, Three New Neolignans Isolated from Amentotaxus yunnanensis and Their Anti-inflammatory Activities

Nguyen Trung Thanh et al.

Summary: A phytochemical study on Amentotaxus yunnanensis leaves led to the discovery of seventeen phenolic compounds, including sixteen neolignans and lignans, as well as one flavone glycoside. Three previously unreported neolignans were identified and named amenyunnaosides A-C. Their structures were determined through extensive analysis using HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR, and ECD spectra. The isolated neolignans exhibited potential inhibition of NO production in LPS-activated RAW264.7 cells, with IC50 values ranging from 11.05 to 44.07 μM, compared to the positive control compound dexamethasone with an IC50 value of 16.93 μM. Additionally, amenyunnaoside A showed dose-dependent reduction in IL-6 and COX-2 production, but had no effect on TNF-alpha production at concentrations of 0.8, 4, and 20 μM.

Traditional uses, pharmacological activities, and phytochemical constituents of the genus Syzygium: A review

A. B. M. Neshar Uddin et al.

Summary: The genus Syzygium, belonging to the family of Myrtaceae, is used in traditional medicine in Asian countries, particularly China, India, and Bangladesh. This review provides organized information on the traditional uses, phytochemical constituents, and pharmacological activities of Syzygium species in Bangladesh. Further comprehensive studies are needed to explore the phytochemical constituents and mechanism-based pharmacological activities of various species in this genus.
