Optimizing impedance matching by a dual-carbon Co-regulation strategy of Co3O4@rGO/celery stalks derived carbon composites for excellent microwave absorption

Xiubo Xie et al.

Summary: Both macroscopic composition and microstructure should be considered for reasonable microwave absorbent designing. In this study, Co3O4@reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/Celery stalks derived carbon (CDC) composite was prepared, and the dielectric and impedance matching properties of the composites were successfully regulated by changing the mass ratio of rGO to CDC. The Co3O4@rGO/CDC composite with multiple components and 3D net structure showed promising magnetic/dielectric loss combinations, interfacial polarization, and multiple reflections and scattering, while the unique structure of CDC contributed to the optimization of impedance matching. The strategy of co-regulating dielectric properties of materials with double carbon provides a novel pathway for the preparation of lightweight, low-cost, and high-performance absorbers.

Enhanced microwave absorption performance originated from interface and unrivaled impedance matching of SiO2/carbon fiber

Jiahao Sun et al.

Summary: This study prepared a new material by grafting and coating SiO2 on the surface of short-cut carbon fiber (SCCF). The SiO2 layer coated on SCCF surface brought about a stronger synergy of multiple loss mechanisms such as interface polarization and dipole polarization. It was found that increasing SiO2 content significantly optimized the impedance matching of SiO2/SCCF composites, and the SiO2 layer structure increased the loss mechanisms of interface and dipole polarization. At 2 vol% filling ratio and 6.35 GHz frequency, the corresponding reflection loss (RL) value was -29.3 dB. Meanwhile, the SiO2/SCCF composite achieved an ultra-broadband electromagnetic wave absorption performance with an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 12.3 GH. Therefore, this work provides a strategy for designing efficient and lightweight CF-based composites with electromagnetic wave absorption performance.

Effect of annealing temperature on the magnetic and microwave absorption of FeNi alloy

Yanyan Zhu et al.

Summary: FeNi alloys were synthesized by hydrothermal reduction method, and the effects of different annealing temperatures on their magnetic and microwave absorption properties were investigated. With increasing annealing temperature from 150 degrees C to 700 degrees C, the saturation magnetization of FeNi alloys increased from 83.61 to 103.24 A·m2·kg-1, while the coercivity decreased from 12.18 to 0.68 kA·m-1. The FeNi alloy changed from semi-hard magnetic behavior to typical soft magnetic behavior. The FeNi alloy (700 degrees C) exhibited an optimum reflection loss (RL) of -28.36 dB at 3.84 GHz, and an effective absorption bandwidth (RL < -10 dB) up to 3.26 GHz.

Testing of magnetic and dielectric traits of microwave plasma treated NiCuZn spinel ferrites for efficient energy storage and high-frequency applications

Muhammad Adnan Munir et al.

Summary: The dielectric, microstructural, and magnetic characteristics of NiCuZnFe2O4 ferrites were tuned through microwave non-thermal plasma treatment. XRD analysis confirmed the cubic spinel structure with an average crystallite size of 47.7 nm. Plasma treatment slightly increased the porosity of the samples, and FTIR analysis confirmed the appearance of absorption bands assigned to spinel ferrites. Pristine ferrite microstructures showed sharp grain boundaries and agglomeration due to magnetic interactions, but a slight decline in particle size was observed in the plasma-treated sample. VSM analysis revealed an increase in saturation magnetization after plasma treatment. Dielectric measurements demonstrated a significant reduction in dielectric loss and an improvement in dielectric constant after plasma exposure.
