Double adjustment of Co and Sr in LaMnO3+δ perovskite oxygen carriers for chemical looping steam methane reforming

Xianglei Yin et al.

Summary: In this study, high reactivity and coking resistance of the La1-xSrxMn1-yCoyO3+delta oxygen carriers were achieved by adjusting the levels of Co and Sr. The introduction of cobalt provided surface active sites to accelerate methane activation, while Sr doping increased oxygen vacancies for improved oxygen migration. The optimal substitution ratios of Co and Sr were found to be in the ranges of 0.4-0.5 and 0.2-0.4, respectively, with La0.8Sr0.2Mn0.5Co0.5O3+delta showing satisfactory performance and stability in redox tests.

Influence of the encapsulation degree of Fe0 active sites on performance of garnets for chemical looping partial oxidation of CH4

Teng Zong et al.

Summary: By tuning the calcination temperature, the coke resistance of Fe-based oxygen carriers can be improved. The encapsulation degree of Fe-0 is increased at higher temperature, allowing for CH4 activation and carbon oxidation reaction. Conversely, at lower temperature, the encapsulation of Fe-0 is destroyed, leading to carbon deposition.

Theoretical insights into the oxygen supply performance of a-Fe2O3 in the chemical-looping reforming of methane

Hui-Xin Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the oxygen migration properties of oxygen carriers (OCs) and the matching problem of oxygen migration rate with the methane dissociation rate were investigated using theoretical analysis. It was found that the migration rate of lattice oxygen and the dissociation of methane can be well matched at a low surface oxygen vacancy concentration, which is crucial for the selective production of syngas.

Enhancement effect of oxygen mobility over Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 catalysts doped by multivalent metal oxides for soot combustion

Jishuang He et al.

Summary: Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 catalysts promoted by multivalent transition metal (Mn, Fe, Co) oxides were prepared to accelerate soot combustion. It was found that Mn and Co-doped catalysts significantly improved catalytic activity, while Fe-doped catalyst had a minor effect. Further characterization revealed that active oxygen species and oxygen vacancies played significant roles in enhancing soot combustion, especially for Mn and Co. Co-doped catalyst also exhibited excellent NO-NO2 conversion capacity, leading to reduced soot ignition temperature, whereas Fe-doped catalyst showed weaker NO oxidation performance due to abundant adsorbed carbonates.

Role of lattice oxygen in methane activation on Ni-phyllosilicate@Ce1-xZrxO2 core-shell catalyst for methane dry reforming: Zr doping effect, mechanism, and kinetic study

Sonali Das et al.

Summary: Sandwich structured core-shell Ni-Phyllosilicate@Ce1-xZrxO2 catalysts with optimal Zr loading in the Ce1-xZrxO2 shell are found to greatly enhance the intrinsic activity for DRM due to increased lattice oxygen mobility of the ceria-zirconia shell and stronger metal-support interaction with Ni. Involvement of lattice oxygen in methane activation and dissociation contributes to the higher DRM activity of the Zr-doped catalyst with maximum oxygen storage capacity, as inferred from rigorous kinetic and mechanism studies.
