Novel Cu and Pd-Cu Catalysts Supported on Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes for Steam Reforming and Decomposition of Methanol

Pawel Mierczynski et al.

Summary: In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) using acetylene as a carbon source over an iron catalyst. The feasibility of MWCNTs supported monometallic and bimetallic catalysts for hydrogen production during steam reforming of methanol (SRM) and methanol decomposition (DM) was investigated. SEM and XRD methods were used to evaluate the structural characteristics of MWCNTs. TPR and XRD methods were used to analyze the physicochemical properties of the catalysts. The promotion effect of palladium on methanol conversion rate and H2 productivity in the case of the copper catalysts was demonstrated, which was attributed to the formation of Pd-Cu alloy compound.

Effects of manganese on the catalytic performance of CuCo catalysts for direct conversion of CO/CO2 to higher alcohols

Fangjun Shao et al.

Summary: The catalytic conversion of CO or CO/CO2 mixtures to higher alcohols (HAs) using hydrogenation reactions is challenging in C1 chemistry. This study found that CuCoMn/Al2O3 catalyst has better dispersion of copper and stronger interaction between cobalt and manganese. The mixed cobalt-manganese oxides in the calcined catalyst promote the formation of higher alcohols. Under the optimum conditions, the catalyst showed high selectivity and fraction of higher alcohols.

High efficient degradation of organic dyes by polypyrrole-multiwall carbon nanotubes nanocomposites

Ai Ling Pang et al.

Summary: In this study, PPy-MWCNTs nanocomposites were synthesized using the ultrasonic-assisted in-situ chemical polymerization route, and the impact of MWCNTs on the properties of PPy was investigated. The results showed that the addition of MWCNTs increased the crystallinity of PPy and improved the photocatalytic activity of PPy-MWCNTs nanocomposites.

Carbon-Based Nanocomposites as Fenton-Like Catalysts in Wastewater Treatment Applications: A Review

Ling Xin et al.

Summary: Advanced oxidation technology, such as fenton-like reagent oxidation and ozone oxidation, is crucial for degrading organic pollutants. Fenton-like reactions are characterized by their low cost, simplicity, thoroughness, and lack of secondary pollution. Materials like graphene, carbon nanotubes, and fullerenes play a significant role in enhancing the catalytic effect of fenton-like catalysts.
