Highly Stable CsPbBr3 Perovskite Nanocrystals Encapsulated in Metal-Organic Frameworks for White Light-Emitting Diodes

Zhen-Dong Lian et al.

Summary: CsPbX3 perovskite nanocrystals have potential in applications like wide color gamut display and lighting, but their instability limits their practical use. This study presents a ligand-free method using ZIF-62 as an encapsulation matrix to synthesize highly stable CsPbX3 nanocrystals. The slightly alkaline nature of ZIF-62 facilitates the reaction between water and PbBr2, passivating surface defects and preventing decomposition or oxidation. The resulting CsPbX3/ZIF-62 composites exhibit high stability against solvents, heat, light, and humidity and show promise in commercial applications.

Facile fabrication of melamine sponge@covalent organic framework composite for enhanced degradation of tetracycline under visible light

Duoyu Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel melamine sponge@COF composite sponge was successfully prepared using a reactive seeding strategy, enabling uniform and sturdy growth of small-sized COF-TpTt on the melamine sponge fibers. The composite sponge effectively overcomes the poor recyclability of general COFs, showing excellent photocatalytic activity towards the degradation of tetracycline antibiotics under visible light. This work provides a simple strategy for the preparation of COF-based composite materials with high degradation performance, easy circulation, and high stability for desired catalytic applications.

In Situ Photocatalyzed Polymerization to Stabilize Perovskite Nanocrystals in Protic Solvents

Xiuyu Jin et al.

Summary: In this study, a controlled radical photocatalyzed polymerization was used to grow protective polymer brushes from the surface of CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs). The PNCs acted as both photocatalysts and substrates with tethered initiators, leading to the synthesis of polymers with defined molecular weights and low polydispersity. The core-shell structured CsPbBr3-polymer nanoparticles exhibited improved colloidal and optical stability, indicating the effective protection of PNCs by surface polymers. This surface photopolymerization technique provides a general method to incorporate different polymer compositions and structures on PNCs for surface functionalization and stabilization.

Summary: By using a new precursor HPbX3, high-quality perovskite nanocrystals with enhanced luminous efficiency and stability are obtained. The nanocrystals prepared from HPbX3 exhibit a high photoluminescence quantum yield of 96% and remain stable in air for more than two months. The improved stability under UV light irradiation, water, and thermal conditions is attributed to the lower structural defect density ensured by the abundant halogen in the precursor.

Ligand-engineered bandgap stability in mixed-halide perovskite LEDs

Yasser Hassan et al.

Summary: By utilizing multidentate ligands to treat mixed-halide perovskite nanocrystals, efficient and color-stable red electroluminescence with a wavelength centered at 620 nanometers and an external quantum efficiency of 20.3% has been achieved. The key function of the ligand treatment is to 'clean' the nanocrystal surface by removing lead atoms, which suppresses the formation of iodine Frenkel defects and halide segregation. This work demonstrates the sensitivity of metal halide perovskites to surface properties and provides a pathway to control surface defect formation and migration, crucial for achieving bandgap stability for light emission and potentially impacting other optoelectronic applications.
