Catalytic hydrothiolation of alkenes and alkynes using bimetallic RuRh nanoparticles on carbon nanotubes

Dhanaji Jawale et al.

Summary: A heterogeneous nanohybrid catalyst was successfully assembled by immobilizing bimetallic ruthenium-rhodium nanoparticles on carbon nanotubes, showing superior performance in hydrothiolation reactions compared to monometallic counterparts. The catalyst operated efficiently under mild and sustainable conditions, with the ability to be recycled and reused without loss of activity.

Carbon nanotube-polyoxometalate nanohybrids as efficient electro-catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction

Dhanaji Jawale et al.

Summary: In this study, electroactive hybrid nanomaterials were assembled by non-covalent, layer-by-layer deposition of tungsten-based polyoxometalates on carbon nanotubes. Chemical functionalization allowed for the homogeneous coverage of polyoxometalates on the nanotubes. Electrochemical characterization highlighted the positive contribution of the nanotube platform to the stability and catalytic performance of immobilized POM species when applied to the hydrogen evolution reaction.

Summary: A carbon nanotube-based packed-bed microreactor was developed for on-chip oxidation of silanes. The process is catalyzed by a heterogeneous gold-carbon nanotube hybrid embedded in the device with a micrometric restriction zone. Integration of the nanohybrid enables efficient flow aerobic oxidation of substrates into corresponding silanols with high selectivity and sustainable conditions.

Dhanaji Jawale et al.

Summary: Bimetallic ruthenium-rhodium nanoparticles were successfully assembled on carbon nanotubes and applied to the hydrophosphinylation reaction of olefin and alkyne-containing compounds. The system showed high efficiency under mild conditions, with low catalyst loading, operating at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Additionally, the catalytic hybrid could be recycled and reused.

Approaching Industrially Relevant Current Densities for Hydrogen Oxidation with a Bioinspired Molecular Catalytic Material

Jeremy Schild et al.

Summary: Integration of a DuBois type Ni bioinspired molecular catalyst onto the surface of a carbon nanotube modified gas diffusion layer through noncovalent binding allowed for precise control over catalytic site loading. By adjusting the hydration level of the active layer, record current densities were achieved with the PGM-free anode at different temperatures. These results highlight the relevance of molecular approaches in developing electrocatalytic platforms for energy conversion.

Micellar nanoreactors for organic transformations with a focus on dehydration reactions in water: A decade update

Mainak Banerjee et al.

Summary: Although water was not widely used as a solvent in organic transformations due to its poor ability to solubilize organic compounds, the use of catalytic amounts of surfactants in aqueous media has proven to be an effective solution. This method, known as micellar catalysis, forms organized phases that serve as nanoreactors in water, allowing for successful dehydration reactions and providing advantages such as reusability and scalability. The development of dehydration reactions in micellar media has led to significant rate acceleration and selectivities, making it a greener alternative to conventional organic synthesis.
